Heritage Park was originally Short Creek’s school building 1950s. In 1992, the Town of Colorado City acquired the land and building. In 1994 it was re-opened as a Community Library and historical park.

J.M. Laurizen gave this land to the city for a park around 1992. A lot of the labor was donated by a local highschool.

To ensure our public parks remain clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone, the Town of Colorado City is
strictly enforcing park and animal control regulations.
Due to ongoing issues with pet waste being left in public spaces, we ask for your immediate cooperation
with the following rules:
• Leash Required: All dogs must be properly restrained on a leash and kept under the direct control of their owner at all times.
• Scoop the Poop: Owners are required by law to immediately remove and properly dispose of their pet’s waste.
• Penalties: Failure to remove animal feces or follow leash laws is a violation of town ordinances (including § 90.069) and may result
in civil penalties.
